Satmap Gps
The Satmap 10 navigation system uses what is known as the Global Positioning System (GPS) - this system uses between 24 and 32 satellites orbiting the earth to determine the precise location anywhere at all.Microwave signals are transmitted and the Satmap GPS receiver uses this information to carry out the calculation. This is possible because the signals sent by the satellites contain information including the time the message was sent and also the exact orbit for the satellite. The Satmap Active 10 receiver can then use the arrival time of each message to measure the distance from the GPS receiver to each of the satellites. The combination of the coordinates it calculates are then converted into longitude and latitude onto a map and displayed on the Active 10 lcd screen.
