Simple operation
The best part of the Satmap Active 10 is the fact that if you purchase you will be able to use straight out of the box immediatly. No external Pc is need to operate the Satmap Active 10 system and its a case of switching the Gps unit on,inserting the required map area in the back - via memory card and planning the route with the on screen menu.If you had tavelled to a new region - swopping over the map area is as simple as changing the memory card in a digital camera - you take one Satmap 10 map card out and install the new one.No wires are need other than those for charging the unit if you are using the rechargable batteries and the system is very simple to operate.Settings or routes can also be saved direct onto either the Satmap system itself or onto the Active 10 unit.
Real maps from the Ordnance Survery
The Satmap Maps system uses fully licenced mapping from the Ordnance survery on the Active 10 GPS unit.There is a wide range of titles and areas available and all are fully supported by Os quality mapping.The display map on the Satmap 10 will be exactly the same as the one you would have with a paper Os map but a lot easier to read.Rival GPS navigation systems cannot match the Satmap's ability to replicate these Ordnance survery maps. Its very simple to understand also as there is a bright red dot shown on the Satmap Active 10 screen to highlight your present position and a trail also shown to show the rouote you have travelled on.

With clear,easy to follow guidence shown in colour on screen even the most novice of users will soon get the hand of using the Satmap system.Rival GPS navigation systems would provide the coordinates for your location but you would then have to translate this to 'real time' on a paper map to know your position - this procedure can be very time consuming,difficult to carry out and near impossible in bad weather.
